Tree Avenue

A ready-made image capturing the interplay of light and shadow, subtly guiding us deeper into the scene. This image invites interpretation in countless ways—perhaps as a metaphor for the path of life or the journey of growing up on a straight and steady course.

The trees, though natural, have been deliberately planted in neat lines by people, shaped to conform to human needs and desires. They stand tall and strong, yet their alignment evokes a sense of control, reflecting human emotions and influence.

In contrast to the vertical trees, is the horizontal wooden fence—also constructed by human hands—stands as another symbol of conformity, emphasising how nature is often bent to serve our purposes. This juxtaposition creates a dialogue between freedom and structure, the organic and the imposed, offering a rich and thought-provoking narrative within the image.

When we are drawn to capture an image, it is often our subconscious that sees it first. It instinctively recognises and assembles the elements of the scene—light, texture, balance, and mood—before our conscious mind fully registers them. The subconscious constructs the image, guiding us to frame it in a way that feels instinctively right, connecting emotion and composition in an unspoken harmony.
